On a 20 acre abandoned orchard (read our story) we’ve intensively planted 2 acres, creating a ‘food oasis’. Not necessarily natives, rather drought tolerant, arid adapted edible/useful plants.
Imagining this is a useful experiment in drought-tolerant farmings as the climate warms. We will create a knowledge base.
NOTE: These plants are very young, many planted in 2016. A fully functioning ‘oasis’ is 10 years away, but in the meantime plants will mature and bear fruit and otherwise be useful, we hope, within months.
