We found the tiniest tortoise while cleaning up the piles of junk on the farm property. He’d gotten himself stuck in a black bucket full of sand and couldn’t crawl out. We put him in a coffee cup and carried him up to one of the Jujube Trees, closer to the large burrow further up the hill, and in the shade. The ground was moist there as we’d just watered.
He loved it and started crawling around. Around that time we spoke to area Tortoise expert and Pioneertown friend Kelly and she said to place him near a hole (rat hole, bunny hole) and he’ll crawl right into it and be safe. And he did!
